The Big Idea
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Alan Kay
The purpose of Applied Happiness is to educate, illustrate, motivate, and inspire people to move forward with confidence and faith – in themselves and their abilities, because they’re equipped with the answers and lessons needed to make all things possible.
There are a million reasons to be happy in life, but more often than not we almost make it sound like a chore to find one. Even when we do find something that makes us happy, we almost instinctively begin to run a series of doubts and fears through our head regarding that happiness. “I think I love him, but what if he leaves me?” “I am so happy I got this opportunity; I just hope I don’t screw it up.” Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Even something as simple as “I cannot believe this! This is so good, it’s unbelievable!” This is really a doubt message. It’s absolutely believable! It’s happening right now!
It’s such a strange phenomenon, isn’t it? We seem to sabotage ourselves with doubt when we get close to achieving great things. All we want is to be happy and reach our goals, but when presented with the finish line, we begin to convince ourselves why it’s too difficult to reach, and how it’s ‘safer’ or ‘easier’ to settle with something else. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Just about everybody does it on some level or another.
The Secret to achieving the results you truly desire begins with a foundation of responsibility. The first step is to take responsibility for your life. Nobody will make your dreams come true, and if you want it to happen, you’ve got to put it in motion – there’s no sitting idly by, waiting for the ship to come in and deliver your riches.
Personal Development is just that – developing yourself as a person. This means any sense of entitlement you may have had ends, and responsibility take its place. The road to riches is paved in gold, but that gold lies in the lessons learned and applied from each obstacle along the way.
Personal Development is also about focus and discipline. Being disciplined enough to follow through with action, and focusing on your motivations is paramount. This site will address all types of situations in life – primarily those that have the ability to teach us a lesson. There are several themes you’ll discover here: Love, Acceptance, Motivating Emotions, Power, Faith, and Connectedness.
Here’s where Applied Happiness got its start. A couple years ago I was looking for answers and ideas to get myself into a better place. I wanted to put some things into my life that would let me feel like I was truly on the right track to achieving my goals and dreams. However, I was not actively looking…it was more of a last thought before I went to bed at night. There was a question posted in one of the online forums I frequent, asking the community if they had ever heard of or read The Secret. The poster included a link to preview The Secret DVD, and other resources. I clicked and changed everything.
I have always felt that I will become something great. I will touch millions of lives in some way, and I’ll find a level of happiness only felt by a select few. The Law of Attraction taught me that those beliefs are exactly what I will manifest. That’s when I got the idea for Applied Happiness.
The idea is that there is no coincidence. There is no chance. There is no ‘divine plan’ either. Your fate is completely in your hands. You can manipulate everything in your life, and build your future to your standards. You only have to focus on the end result – the things you want in your life, and act on it – follow through with action.
Months of working with clients and continuing to learn and read about the leaders in the self-help arena, however, showed me a darker side. Many of the avatars out on the stages today are selling gimmicks and ‘get-better-quick’ schemes to the masses. While I feel the Law of Attraction and The Secret are wonderful pieces to the puzzle, I feel the message has been shadows by the grand game of ‘show and tell’ the speakers and authors put on.
I changed the methods I was working with, and began teaching real world lessons on drive, discipline, faith, love, and connectedness. The eBook section of this site illustrates why I feel “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” is a better choice than “Life’s Missing Instruction Manual” because it provides better, and more effective real world examples and lessons.
This site is created to give people a place to come and learn about creating wealth in their lives – wealth in love, wealth in money, wealth in travels, relationships, experiences. It’s about creating your own happiness, and manifesting your desires by simply declaring them, believing they are coming to you, taking action to achieve them, and genuinely experiencing that happiness. What makes you happy? What are you willing to do to achieve that? What are you ready to move forward into? What do you want to achieve
“When the voice and the vision on the inside become more profound, and more clear and loud, than the opinions on the outside, you’ve mastered your life.” – Dr. John F. Demartini
